The Story Behind This Project
The idea for this guide began in 2019 when my friend Carrie Johnson shared her travel notes based on her own experiences in Japan. As I read through her practical notes, I realized how valuable this kind of real-world information could be for someone planning their first trip.
That document became the starting point for a much larger project. Over the years, I expanded it with my own experiences, observations, and lessons learned from decades of traveling to Japan.
Originally, I thought this would become a simple PDF that I could share with friends and other travelers who asked for advice. But as the information grew, I realized a website would be far more useful — something travelers could access anytime, especially while planning their trip or navigating Japan on the go.
